Fell & Sell Weapons: Verified Categories, Not a Tier List
The weapon categories current official achievement evidence confirms in Fell & Sell, plus the stats and build questions that still require verification.
What is verified
Steam’s official global-achievement list includes weapon-specific kill milestones for four categories. That is enough to confirm these categories exist in the live game, but it is not enough to rank them.
| Confirmed category | Official achievement evidence | What remains VERIFY |
|---|---|---|
| Sword | Sword kill milestones | Exact weapons, stats, crafting path and best build |
| Axe | Axe kill milestones | Exact weapons, stats, crafting path and best build |
| Hammer | Hammer kill milestones | Exact weapons, stats, crafting path and best build |
| Staff | Staff kill milestones | Exact weapons, stats, crafting path and best build |
The official store page separately confirms that stronger weapons can be forged and that dungeon altars can change playstyle. Neither source establishes a current meta, damage ranking or a full weapon roster.
Why there is no “best weapon” list here
A tier list needs current stats, conditions and repeatable comparisons. At launch, those are not public enough to support a trustworthy ranking. A weapon’s value can also change with materials, available recipes, inventory pressure and altar effects.
Start with the Dungeon guide for safe run decisions and the Crafting guide for the craft boundary. If you reached the Sword in the Stone encounter, use the Bloodstone Greatsword guide for its strictly unverified-condition log.
Pick for the next room before chasing a tier list
Launch recordings show players weighing attack rhythm, stamina use, blocking, carrying pressure, and whether an unfamiliar room leaves space to retreat. That is a better early-game test than copying a single creator’s favorite weapon.
Try a new weapon in a low-risk room first. If it leaves you unable to dodge or retreat after one bad exchange, it may be the wrong choice for the next floor even when its displayed damage looks larger. This is qualitative player advice only; it does not establish current attack speeds, stamina costs, or a weapon meta.
Use Early-Game Tips for the wider bank-versus-risk loop, and keep named weapon stats at VERIFY until they are captured on the public build.
Ver. 1.6.0 and 1.7.0 changed how armor and weapons work
Two patches after the Dungeon Update rewrote advice that is still circulating:
- Armor has diminishing returns (1.7.0). The damage multiplier is now
60 / (Armor Value + 60), so the first points of armor matter far more than the last ones. Building a mixed loadout is worth more than stacking one armor stat to the ceiling. - “Armor” is now called “Damage Reduction” (1.6.0) in the UI, and since 1.7.0 the armor value and the real damage you block are displayed right below your equipment.
- Weapon hot-swapping (1.7.0) means the shield-in-left-hand trade-off is gone: swap between ranged and melee on the fly instead of committing before a fight.
- Staff users (1.6.1): projectiles no longer collide with doorframes, so doorways are no longer dead zones for staff builds.
- Magic area of effect was increased (1.6.0), which changes how well staff weapons handle room groups after the Dungeon Update’s room-based spawning.
